Research Summary
(i) We are aiming to synthesis, magnetically active nano-sized mixed metal oxide having very good capacity to adsorb the inorganic contaminant such as fluoride, arsenic, lead, cadmium, etc., as well as organic contaminant of dyes and pharmaceuticals from contaminated water (mainly ground and industrial waste water effluent). In our recent publications we were shown that using our materials we achieved the permissible limit of fluoride level from highly contaminated ground water from Kharai village (Kashipur block) of Purulia district, West Bengal, India.

(ii) The nano sized material also utilized as catalyst for synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones from ethyl acetoacetate, aldehyde and urea.

(iii) Advantage of our approach is as follows
(a) easy to synthesis in moderate condition
(b) As surface properties of the material play an important role, we also concentrate on tune the surface property by various routes such as pyrolysis, incorporation of 3rd component, etc..
(c) Since the material is magnetically active at the end of- water treatment / catalytic cycle, the material is separated very easily by applying the external magnetic field.
